FLEXCOM - FLEXible phased array system for sat-COM applications
FLEXCOM developed a new class of flexible and reconfigurable phased array technology for airborne, spaceborne, and Earth segment satellite communications. The project centered on creating the "FLEXTILE"—a highly integrated, reusable antenna tile equipped with custom SiGe BiCMOS RFICs and a digital beamforming processor. By shifting the design complexity to the digital domain, this modular building block can be adapted to various SatCom applications without the need to redesign the costly RF hardware. The FLEXTILE architecture was successfully demonstrated across three different use cases: an IoT/M2M terminal, a conformal shared-aperture array integrated onto a UAV fuselage, and a transmitarray lens antenna feed intended for High-Altitude Platforms (HAPs)
